Forestall any further discussions in this regard, Subject then stated that "if you are thinking that I could have worked for the KGB at that time, then you are right because I had the time to do anything including engaging in intelligence activities." However, Subject then proceeded to deny that he had done, at any time, had any relationship with the KGB (or its predecessor organizations).
In July 1962 Subject's mother and father came to Moscow, this specifically for the purpose of getting Subject to return to the USA. They stayed in Moscow for over a month and visited the Supreme Soviet, to KHRUSHCHEV, to Nina Khrushchev, to the Soviet Red Cross, and to other Soviets, to attempt, in order to get Subject and his son permission for emigration to the USA. (Subject's wife, Marina, had died in 1961.) In August 1962, while vacationing in Sochi, Subject was sought out by the local Intourist office and apprised by the local militia office that "in view of your father's strong appeal" the Supreme Soviet had granted Subject and his son permission to leave the USSR. Upon his return to Moscow, Subject proceeded to the American Embassy where he was advised that he would need his Soviet exit visa by the Soviets. As a result, Subject applied for and was granted an exit visa by the Soviets. In the capacity of a Soviet citizen using his Soviet passport, and the second time in the capacity of an "American citizen."
In September 1962 the application to travel to the USA was "arranged" was approved for him and his son. Therefore, being an "American citizen" Subject was able to travel under his old alias of "American citizen." Subject left the USSR at the end of 1962 via Helsinki. Subject together with his son and entered the USA via New York. Upon his arrival in the USA, Subject immediately undertook efforts to have his "American citizenship" restored. This was accomplished as he had advised that he had used a false name while in the USSR. The original decision was reversed and the Subject and his son had their citizenships then restored. Subject then advised that as a result of his statements, they reversed the case and he and his son were issued passports to travel to the USA and their citizenships were restored.
X: Upon his arrival in the USA, Subject immediately applied for a position with the "X" company. He was rejected as he was "blacklisted." However, he then accepted a position with Sterling, Inc., Waterwood, and was attended, 16th Street, working with Sterling, Inc. His supervisor, one Frank McGowan, then recommended Subject to the SECRET.
