Debriefing of Santiago SANCHEZ de la Torre
SUBJECT: Angel BENCOMO (BENCOMO reportedly was responsible for the SHO roll-up per SANCHEZ - See EMI-5507)

1. Angel BENCOMO is approximately 19 years old, has brown skin, short, stocky, approximately 130 lbs. BENCOMO was formerly an enlisted man in Camaguey and a friend of Arturo MUJARRAL. BENCOMO married the Havana Lady GALENO in March 1962 after he was employed by the Abras Publicitas in Camaguey. BENCOMO had trouble with his superiors (both the military and GALENO) brought BENCOMO to Havana where BENCOMO contacted SANCHEZ (BENCOMO had met Arturo RODRIGUEZ Pecheco) and Santiago SANCHEZ. BENCOMO did not need Arturo MUJARRAL in Havana. SANCHEZ rejected BENCOMO and he appeared to be OK - calm, disciplined, quick, etc. SANCHEZ then began using BENCOMO to pick up radios, mail, cameras, etc. This activity took place between March and May 1962.

2. Arturo MUJARRAL was arrested in May 1962 in a cafeteria in Havana. Arturo went to dispose of an automobile. GALENO was to meet MUJARRAL. The car was sold to a prospective buyer and GALENO drove the car to test it and returned with the car down. A mechanic drove the car to test it and returned with the car down. Although GALENO was present, no questions were asked.

3. From May to September 1962, SANCHEZ saw BENCOMO often. In September, SANCHEZ went to the Embassy but heard that BENCOMO was arrested and held until November 1962. SANCHEZ received a letter from BENCOMO via SANCHEZ's sister. BENCOMO wrote the letter (which SANCHEZ still has) saying he was in trouble. In December 1962, SANCHEZ received another letter from BENCOMO saying he was corresponding to the house of Nelly PERALES. SANCHEZ wrote PERALES telling her not to go to the house. In January 1963, SANCHEZ received a letter from BENCOMO saying he was in trouble. In December 1963, SANCHEZ received a proposition in January 1964. Since that time PERALES has disappeared.
