MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD

SUBJECT: Telephone Conversation between Mike GEIDEL and Martin Ferrer

DATE: 8 May 1964 at 1030 hours

1. The undersigned reminded Mike GEIDEL that it is essential that AMBIDY-1 meet with "RODNEYNET" when the former returns to Miami.

2. Mike stated that TERGO (MR Dominican Republic delegate) had received a telephone call from President Reid or some other high official in the Dominican Republic which stated that President Reid would like to meet with AMBIDY-1 on 11 May in the Dominican Republic. TERGO was also informed that they could have anything they wanted in the Dominican Republic.

3. Martin next brought up the subject of the MID. It was GEIDEL's impression that this organization might be nothing more than a provocation. This opinion is also shared by SHAVE. Mike commented that AMBIDY-19 has met with members of this organization who for the most part are unwilling to return to Cuba. He would like to test the waters before committing AMBIDY-19 any further. He feels it best to give this organization some shabby materials and see what happens.
